Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American and Canadian singer-songwriter. There are more than 20 albums that have been made available by her. DiFranco categorizes her music under the terms folk-rock and alternative. But it includes influences like hip-hop, punk and jazz. Ani Difranco is recognized as an icon of feminist music. In the year 1990, she was among the first people to launch her own label independently. DiFranco was born on September 23, 1970 in Buffalo, New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who was introduced to Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian heritage and her mother was a Montreal native. Ani Difrasco wrote and sang the song "32 Flavors". The track is part of her 1995 album Not a Pretty Girl, that was her sixth studio release. This track appears in the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate from 1999. In 2013, DiFranco apologized when it was announced that she was hosting the three-day event on a former Louisiana plantation for slaves.
